Clara was up and around A LOT today! Her cousin Vivian came for a much needed play date and for a hospital bound 2 year old, it was a great distraction. As we said goodbye to our Saturday afternoon visitors she wanted to hop on the elevator with them. So sad. To distract her from pleading to go with them, we grabbed a shopping cart from the playroom and walked clear down to the butterfly hall. On the way back she stopped and said, "can't go mommy." I picked Clara and the shopping cart up and pushed the IV pole (which I've dubbed as my 6th child) back to our room. She knows her limits. Her blood counts started to climb back up today so she should start having more energy this week. . . just in time to knock them back down again when chemo starts on Friday. I'll have to make sure we spend as little time as possible in the room this week and maybe take her outside in the gardens for some fresh air if they'll let me. Her doctor is decreasing the morphine drip today and we will gradually transition to an oral pain med as needed. A big step. This will help to determine how well the cancer is responding to chemo.

Big, big thank you for all of the gifts, cards and pictures you have sent. Everything puts an instant smile on her face, mine too! Hospital life can get a little dull so thank you for brightening up our days here. We are grateful for each of your thoughts and prayers. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And in case you haven't seen the video of Clara singing "I am a Child of God" in two year old language here you go!

Your "6th child" comment made me smile. Anderson called it his robot. I'm enjoying the videos of Clara so much. Keep them coming!

We loved our visit today. Clara is the cutest cancer patient and I can't get enough of her personality. I hate going home...Vivian, however, was sure glad to see her bed after a day of NO naps.

Another sweet post. Clara singing "I am a Child of God" gets to me every time. You know it puts a smile on his face as well. He is with all of us. Today Kate was running into our bathroom and she tripped and hit her head so hard on our dresser. I was freaking out wondering what I would find on her head, expecting to be rushing her to emergency. She must have hit the only place that was safe as she only has a little knot on her forehead. It didn't even break the skin.
I was in tears as I thanked our Heavenly Father for another tender mercy.

So good to see these positive steps. And I love that shopping cheered her up. She's definitely a girl!

That is so stinkin' cute! John said that the guys had a great time at the Father's and Sons outing. Does Spokane have the "lily pads" on their IV poles? At Children's in Seattle a father had designed a lily pad shape out of wood that fit on the spider legs of the IV pool. Anderson and other patients could sit on the wooden lily pad and straddle their IV pole while mom or dad pushed...it was awesome. :) Is her skin becoming ultra soft? I remember Anderson's skin being baby like. So glad she is feeling good enough to sing her songs...tell her that her nursery music teacher can't wait til I can hear her myself. :) Amy

So cute. What was she saying at the end? It sounded like she was saying baby socks or something. :) I love little kids renditions of the primary songs, or any other song for that matter. Lots of repeating. :) We keep Clara in our thoughts and prayers constantly and hope for a speedy recovery. Her name is always in the temple as well. Hope you're doing well! (As well as can be expected at least!)

MAde me cry. I love it when children sing anyway, but that was precious.
