The Star

This girl has been asleep since 5:30 this evening as a result of a napless day. So the question that remains to be answered is this: Is she down for the night, or is this a nap?
It is 8:18 pm and they should be getting her chemo started any minute now (at least I hope). Her oncologist was conferencing with doctors in Seattle today regarding her case. They agreed that surgery and more radiation wouldn't be wise at this point. The only viable option is to start chemo. Her left eye started turning in this afternoon just like I saw the right eye starting to do several days ago. I took her to the ophthalmologist after first seeing it and she checked out fine for now. The vision is still there. So we just need to hope that the tumor will start to shrink quickly!

Clara was singing one of her favorite songs to me today. I was enjoying the moment too much to get it on video. I'll get it one of these days.

I am like a star shining brightly,
Smiling for the whole world to see.
I can do and say happy things each day,
For I know Heav’nly Father loves me.

It's perfect, I think it should be her theme song. She is a star.

For your sake, I hope she is down for the night. No telling how the chemo will make her feel, though.

She is a star in my eyes. That is the one favorite lullaby at our house...simple and sweet yet profound.

I have been thinking and praying for Clara's eyes all evening. I was explaining to Will about Clara's eyes and comparing it to his one bad eye. Will said, "Well Mom if both her eyes are bad she wouldn't be able to play." Then he said, "Is Clara playing with toys?" So here is to Clara playing with lots of toys. And resting up for chemo. Will and I are praying for her vision! She is the brightest star I know! Sweet dreams Clara! And you too, Mom!

She is a Star...and as the mother, you are a Star too. You both are shining for everyone to see. Here's to a great Round of Chemo! Continued love and prayers from Oregon!

I am so glad she is full of music. What an angel. Your boys were so good today and I got lots of pictures of them shooting BB Guns, panning for gold and eating yummy apples they had cooked on the coals. I was planning on sending you the photos but that is kind of hard to do when my camera is still out at Columbia Basin. :) We are all thinking of you and I will do my best to capture these sweet moments of your precious boys. I'm so happy to hear that her eye checks out for now. I love that she sings so much. Clearly it's because she has a mother who sings these precious songs to her daily.

You're such a good example to me. Yesterday, I was in a doctor's office trying to hold a very upset and squirming toddler while they checked out her nose. (making sure no eraser leftovers were in there ;) I immediately thought of sweet Clara singing her songs. I started to sing "I am a Child of God" quietly in her ear and she stopped squirming so much and let the doctor have a look.

I hope she slept well last night for you. Rest up and keep fighting sweet Clara!!

My heart is so heavy right now from things that are going bad in my loved ones lives (including you). Your blog is giving me the hope and faith that I need to help me know that things will be alright (even though they might not turn out how I would like them to). I am praying so hard for you and your family and I want you to know that I think about you constantly. You are a true hero and so is Clara.
