Church

The big news of the day is Clara and I went to church today (just Sacrament Meeting)! Before church we went to the hospital. On Saturday they said I could bring her in on the days she needed the shots so they could help hold her down while I did the injection. Even though I wish I didn't have to do it, it helps to do it in the hospital with help. Anyway after the dreaded deed was done and she was calmed down and we headed to the elevator, I said "Mommy's sorry she has to give you the poke, but the medicine will help you to feel better." Clara's simple, "Thanks, mom" was heartbreaking and soothing at the same time. She knows. A tender mercy.

It's been way too long since I've been to church and it was rejuvenating for my mind and spirit. Today was a blessing and I hope we have many more Sundays just like today. He hears and answers prayers. Seeing where Clara is today and where she was 5 weeks ago, there is no doubt. All things are possible through Christ.

Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.                                                                                                                   Mormon 9:21

What a beautiful day for you both. She looks so adorable. The scripture is perfect. I was helping Kate get ready for church this morning and she picked out a dress that she wants Clara to wear when she comes home from the hospital. She said. "Clara has to come home to p;ay with her sister".

I was actually thinking about you all day yesterday and I wondered if you'd get a chance to go to church. What a blessing indeed. She is adorable in her dress and headband. How special that you were able to go yesterday. Glad your day was filled with more tender mercies! You and Clara continue to be in my thoughts and prayers!

Oh, I'm so glad you were able to go to church together! I too am loving her cute dress and sweet headband. I'm sure she was so happy to be doing something that is so familiar to her as going to church.

Praying for many more Sundays just like this for you both.

So cute! I love the dress and headband as well. It seems like (for me at least) I never remember just how much I love and appreciate church until I have had to miss a week. I forget so easily how wonderful and soothing it is to be surrounded by friends and family and to feel the spirit. I am so glad you were able to attend church with Clara! She's in our thoughts and prayers continually!

I am so envious AND surprised! They never let us go to such enclosed areas for months! What a blessing! Amy

Little Miss Clara.. You have encouraged our family in ways you will never know. You are truly an angel on earth. We pray for you daily and will continue to pray for you and your family. God Bless you all.

PS: Dear Clara's Mommy: Ask the doctor if you can get some "Lidocaine Ointment USP, 5%." Rub a small amount on the injection site about 20 min before the shot. Then have her squeeze a poky hairbrush in her hand while you give the shot. This works well at our house. (I have a medaport and we have to change it weekly with a new needle. I also have to take daily injections. Although, I don't use the numbing cream daily, only for medaport changes. Ouch!) We had a sick little guy who arrived by life flight to Sacred Heart from Pasco when he was 2 yrs old. Lucky for us our stay was under 2 weeks. Wagon rides down the blue butterfly hallway were a favorite daily adventure. Your faith will get you through this tough time and believe me when I say, Your family will grow closer to one another and in faith. This time apart is only a tiny fraction of the bigger picture. Your strength amazes me. You should be giving me the advice! I wish you the best. God Bless.

I am so happy you got to go to church with Clara. How nice. I love the scripture you put at the end of the post. It is so neat. I haven't read in The Book of Mormon for just personal study in a while. I feel motivated by you to do that. Thank you!
